About DebitGuard

Helping consumers manage account, billing and subscription-related issues.

Who we are

Most South Africans know the frustration of trying to cancel a subscription contract, stop debit orders after cancellation or resolve a billing problem.
Many consumers end up calling, emailing and following up again and again, but still feel ignored, frustrated and exhausted.
DebitGuard was created to help consumers manage these subscription-related issues. We provide subscription account support, cancellation assistance, billing support and dispute escalation services where appropriate.

Why consumers use DebitGuard

Some consumers simply do not have the time, patience or expertise to deal with cancellations, account administration and endless company follow-ups. In these cases, we help manage the consumer’s account on their behalf based on the instructions they provide.

Others use DebitGuard when they are dealing with unresolved billing disputes, post-cancellation debit orders, cancellation-related issues, collections communication, blacklisting concerns or other account problems that may require challenge, recovery or escalation.

Consumer rights are at the core of what we do

DebitGuard’s services are built around consumer rights, fair treatment, and the principles of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). When we assist consumers with cancellations, billing issues, post-cancellation debit orders, unfair fees or account-related disputes, we consider whether the company’s conduct appears fair, transparent and consistent with responsible consumer treatment.

Our role is to manage the process on behalf of consumers by organising the relevant information, communicating with the company, and challenging unclear, unfair or inconsistent conduct where appropriate.

Where repeated complaint patterns emerge, DebitGuard may support stronger escalation through legal partners or broader consumer-action routes to help hold companies accountable for recurring consumer harm.

More than account management support and dispute support

Beyond helping consumers resolve individual issues, DebitGuard aims to promote greater transparency and accountability across subscription-based industries.

Through consumer complaint data, dispute insights and our risk intelligence tools, we help consumers better understand the risks associated with certain products, services and business practices before they sign up.

Independent and consumer-focused

DebitGuard is an independent South African consumer account-management and dispute-support platform.
We are not a regulator, ombudsman, law firm, debt counsellor or financial services provider, and we do not provide legal advice.
